Typing SMS while driving is certainly dangerous, but what if you do it while running? A recent study found when typing while walking is also potentially dangerous. Hmm.. Do you often do that?

Texting while crossing the street spelled is one habit that is often done on the pedestrian. Pedestrians are typing while walking 4 times greater risk of breaking traffic lights or crossing in the middle of the intersection, compared with those who walked without any disturbance.

The study, led by Beth evel of the University of Washington is observed 1102 people in Seattle. This study describes if an increase in the prevalence of text messaging and the use of mobile devices for different functions such as playing games showed that the risk of interference will increase.

Of all pedestrians observed during the study, nearly one-third of them busy with music, send text messages or use their mobile device for other things. Such disturbances also affect how long they have to cross the road. Those who send text messages while crossing takes an additional approximately 1.87 seconds, compared to those who do not use mobile devices.

Evel added, "Talking or texting on cell phones while crossing the road will endanger yourself and the driver. We must begin to consider well when and where to use electronic devices."

Last year the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board recommends ban on texting and using mobile devices while driving. More than 3,000 deaths, 9.4% were related to road accidents are caused by distractions. Well .. it's good from now on you are more wise to use a mobile device while on the road.
